The Palavra Viva ministry began in the city of Florianópolis in 1988, with prayer meetings on Morro do Horácio. The founders, Pedro Flori Ramos and Suzimari Paiva Ramos, moved by God, began the Palavra Viva ministry with a small group of people, without financial support.
In October 1989, they were ordained as pastors by Bishop Samuel Francelino.
With great determination and faith, they set out to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, following a call from God.
Guided by a vision from Bishop Suzi, they began in a space where Bishop Flori had previously worked as a hairdresser, an old salon in the city center.
The pleasant surprise was that the space was open to the public free of charge for six months. Luiz and Ivanilde were in charge at the time, people to whom Palavra Viva Church will be eternally grateful.
Pedro and Suzi simultaneously observed and cared for the church, even though there were difficulties, but they were always eager.
Their biological sons Thiago and Lucas, their daughters-in-law, their grandchildren, and their spiritual children also arrived.
God empowers and strengthens them to face and overcome the challenges that a spiritual ministry presents to its pastors.
In each physical space throughout its history, Palavra Viva's membership grew, and thus, leaders were raised to help guide the flock.
In 2000, Pastor Pedro Flori joined Palavra Viva as a full minister.
A step of faith that would give the church new stature. The welcome he received from his pastor and family led to new expectations of growth and consolidation.
In 2002, with a considerable number of leaders and pastors born under Pedro Flori's leadership, he was ordained to the bishopric by Pastor Roberto de Lucena.
This marked another milestone for the Palavra Viva ministry to expand in the greater Florianópolis area and other states in Brazil and around the world.
Since its founding, Palavra Viva has always had a strong worship ministry.
Over the years, several worship ministers have graduated, leading to the founding of the Avivah Ministry, whose music has reached (and will continue to reach) the world.
Currently, the Avivah Ministry has millions of views on the VMusic YouTube channel, where the most popular song is "Maranatha," with over 400 million views.
In February 2011, Bishop Flori and Bishop Suzi founded ACAJE - Friends of Jesus Community Association, a duly registered Institution of Municipal, State and Federal Public Utility.
ACAJE encompasses a variety of projects, all of which operate without government aid. One of them is the Semente Viva Shelter, located in the Ingleses neighborhood.
The Shelter supports at-risk children and guides them through a safe adoption process.
In addition to the Shelter, ACAJE also offers Impacto Vivo, an after-school program that aims to provide sports, cultural, and artistic activities as comprehensive educational strategies for social inclusion, preventing the misuse of legal and illegal drugs, and fostering engagement in supporting activities based on the philosophy of shared responsibility.
Also in the social assistance sector, Palavra Viva runs the Amor em Ação Project, which serves more than 200 families in socially vulnerable situations weekly, distributing basic food baskets, clothing, shoes, and hygiene and cleaning supplies.
It also provides free psychological counseling and referrals to the social assistance network.
One of the ministry's hallmarks is its people-centered approach, being a church active in society and in the development of other leaders, especially the younger generation, based on biblical principles, thus preparing them for ministerial and ecclesiastical leadership, as well as for public and business positions.
Today, we are a large family seeking to serve our generation well with the message of Grace, proposed by the Gospel of Christ.
We are spread throughout Brazil, Europe, and the United States, currently numbering over 35 churches.
With the Lord's help, we will continue spreading the good news of Christ throughout the inhabited world until Jesus returns.
To the Lord all honor and all glory!
